This concept helps to provide better trauma health care for patients involved in automotive accidents. In today's world, with increasing technological advancement, the average speeds of automobiles have increased manifolds compared to previous years. This has also paved way for the increase in the number of road accidents. A Black box (BB) is a device which records critical parameters of the vehicle, and throws light on the vehicle and driver behavior few minutes before the accident to the occurrence of the accident. All flights have these black box recorders. During the literature survey, it was known that BB's are being used in few commercial automotive vehicles like trucks and the main reason for the usage(by the insurance companies) is to validate the insurance claims, and it also serves as a evidence for claiming insurance money.
In health care, It has ever been a tough job for the doctors to treat to the victims of the trauma care (especially road accidents victims). It is always known that "If the trauma victim is treated within the first 30mintues of accident, the chances of survival is 90% higher". Any mechanism or data that would give information on the collision would be of great help to the doctors to treat the victim within this first 30mins. My ideology is to use the same black box for trauma care. A Computer software is to be developed, which reads the information from the black box, such as vehicle type, model information’s, the speed of the car, gear, brake conditions, clutch position, engine speed, data from crash sensor mounted on the front and rear etc., Once the software reads the data, it compares with the crash data (given by the manufacturer) and calculates the intensity of the damage on the driver's body & indicates the same. Both visual image & reports will be available to the doctors in few seconds. This will help the doctors to target those areas and help them to identify contusions, and treat them quickly. This process would be preceding the physical examination of the victim’s body. This concept involves the development of the program to analyze the Black box data and to manufacturer the hardware (PC) required for the black box data analysis. Like any other medical equipments (like X-ray etc.,) this PC and software should be made available in all the hospitals with trauma care. This is an interdisciplinary concept merging the fields like medical, transportation and safety.
