Pole Climbing Serpentine Inspection and Maintenance Robot Page Views: 754 Safety and Security
Gabriel Goldman, Blacksburg, VA US Votes: 23 10/17/2008

A Pole Climbing Serpentine Robot is being developed that will be able to inspect common workplace structures (like scaffolding) for structural integrity before sending in a human worker. This is accomplished by using a novel pole climbing motion that allows for the robot to effectively roll up a pole-like structure's surface. Manipulators and sensors can be integrated onto the robot as well so that many mundane inspection and maintenance taks can be automated while climbing.

Emergency Block Valve Pays For Itself While Increasing Safety Page Views: 110 Safety and Security
G Paul Baker JR, Denham Springs, LA US Votes: 7 10/15/2008

If the emergency shutdown block valves used in chemical reactors could function correctly every time, dangerous situations would never occur. In reality, however, there is at any given moment some probability that a particular valve will not work. This probability is spread between two types of failures: dangerous and nuisance. Dangerous failures are hidden, you only realize the valve has failed when equipment is damaged and people are injured or killed. Nuisance failures are not

AEFP-Automatic expansion Fluid Packs-Exterior Fluid Bags Page Views: 307 Safety and Security
Mitran Ashok, CHENNAI, NA IN Votes: 7 09/12/2008

Working of the design: This is how a car equipped with my design will ease threw a, could have been mishap- a dirty, devastating accident. The car is fitted with a sensor on the four sides, along with a real time, permanent, speed tracker, which tracks and stores the normal speed of a car. The sensor senses vehicles in front of it, from a distance of 100m. It takes into account the speed of the car, the relative

Accident Prevention Page Views: 1,633 Safety and Security
Mani Kandan, Madurai, NA IN Votes: 8 08/30/2008

Every one travels in vehicle want a safety journey.I would like to introduce a innovative system to protect the vehicle from any accident caused by collision of one vehicle with each other. PRINCIPLE- When two objects have same magnetic poll and will strike each other within a particular distance. Then Repulsion force will be created and This force is used to prevent the vehicle from accident. For this purpose we require an Electro Magnet and sensor.

DIVE BUDDY - SCUBA RESCUE SYSTEM Page Views: 369 Safety and Security
Robert Kwiatkowski, Voorhees, NJ US Votes: 7 07/23/2008

Every year fatal accidents occur while under water. In many instances the victim could have been saved if s/he were found and provided medical assistance immediately. When the dive turns into a rescue effort, time is of the essence. In many instances, the people on the boat have no idea someone is in trouble until it is too late. The DiveBuddy system will significantly reduce this threat. A completely self-contained low profile unit attached to the divers

Personal Safety Belt Page Views: 572 Safety and Security
Z. Altug, Los Angeles, CA US Votes: 5 07/23/2008

PROBLEM: Wars and crime have plagued humanity as far as humans have recorded history. What if there was a simple device that could end all wars? What if this device could also provide any individual complete safety from an attack involving any firearms, sharp objects or physical assault? SOLUTION: The Personal Safety Belt (PSB) could be that device. The PSB would be a small device that a person wears on their belt with two electromagnetic packs no larger

Improved Helicopter Configuration Page Views: 525 Transportation
Dale Gibby, Columbus, IN US Votes: 7 07/17/2008

Improved Helicopter Configuration Dale Gibby 3/18/2008 This is a proposal for an improved helicopter configuration. This helicopter is safer than a conventional helicopter due to its simplicity and independent redundancy for critical failure modes. It is less expensive than a conventional helicopter due to elimination of collective and cyclic pitch mechanisms, rotor flap mechanisms, gearboxes and long drive shafts. It is faster than conventional helicopters due to elimination of asymmetrical lift during high-speed flight. This helicopter has three
